ABOUT OUR PANELISTS:

Special Guest Moderator -- Ed Begley, Jr.

Actor, author, and pioneering environmentalist Ed Begley, Jr. has been a longstanding advocate for environmental issues. Ed has led the Green Movement for many years, both as a personal example of sustainable lifestyle practices, and a vocal spokesperson towards a more Earth-responsible society. He believes that even the simplest changes in personal habits, multiplied by a growing populace of concerned humans, can create a lasting effect on the health of our planet and of all living things. His work in the environmental community has earned him a number of awards from some of the most prestigious environmental groups in the nation, including the California League of Conservation Voters, the Natural Resources Defense Council, The Coalition for Clean Air, Heal the Bay, and the Santa Monica Baykeeper. He currently lives in Los Angeles in a home powered by solar energy, and drives an electric car when not riding his bicycle.

Dan Dabek -- Executive Director, C.I.C.L.E.

Through C.I.C.L.E. (Cyclists Inciting Change Thru LIVE Exchange), Dan strives to make bicycle transportation more accessible through education and encouragement programming. Dan has worked at Occidental College where he was the Assistant Director of Financial Aid. He has years of biking experience and advocacy, including: biking across the U.S. for the Habitat Bike Challenge, the Northeast AIDS Ride, serving on the Occidental Sustainability Committee and bike-share program, assisting with the Pasadena Bike Plan, and volunteering at the Bike Oven. He also enjoys writing music, gardening and living simply.

Gil Garcetti -- Photographer/Author, Paris: Women & Bicycles

Although Gil spent 32 years in the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, eight years as the elected District Attorney, much of his life has been spent as an urban photographer. His first photo book, IRON: ERECTING THE WALT DISNEY CONCERT HALL, (November 2002, Balcony Press), received much critical praise in the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, and other publications. For nearly three years, Gil Garcetti photographed women riding bicycles in Paris. Women of all ages, smartly dressed, use bicycles to get to work, to visit friends, to go shopping, go to the movies or the opera, and even to funerals. The weather is never an impediment - these women ride in the snow, the rain and the heat. With evocative urban imagery and lush color, this book will inspire readers to leave their cars for their bikes wherever they may need to go with Parisian flair. Paris: Women & Bicycles is one component of a community bicycling initiative in Southern California.

Jennifer Klausner -- Executive Director, LACBC

Jen Klausner has served as Executive Director of the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition since summer 2007. Prior to joining LACBC, her career focused on consumer products marketing and branding, in product development/licensing roles with Hello Kitty and Barbie, at Nakajima and Mattel, respectively. Jennifer grew up in Los Angeles, holds degrees from both UCLA and USC, and has commuted by bike throughout her post graduate career. She has a diverse bike advocacy experience, is an avid and still occasionally competitive mountain biker, USAC certified Coach and a League of American Bicyclists LCI.

Wes Reutimann -- Co-Founder, BikeSGV

Wes is a Pasadena resident and co-founder of BikeSGV, a local group that promotes cycling as a form of healthy transportation and recreation. Started in 2009 by a group of local advocates who shared a desire to realize a cohesive network of bicycle infrastructure in the San Gabriel Valley, BikeSGV became an official chapter of the LA County Bike Coalition in May 2011.

Felicia Williams -- City of Pasadena Environmental Commission Chair
