Two weeks after the earthquake and tsunami, Japan is still coping with the aftermath. Recent numbers indicate that the death toll has reached 10,035 people, with 17,443 still missing, according to Japan's national police force.
One of Japan's biggest concerns currently is food and water. Anxiety over food and water supplies has soared due to warnings about radiation leaking from Japan's tsunami-damaged nuclear power plant into Tokyo's tap water at levels unsafe for babies over the long term.
100% of the proceeds raised from Download to Donate: Tsunami Relief will benefit Save The Children's emergency response to support children and families affected by this tragedy. Music for Relief is proud to support Save The Children, which has already opened five child-friendly spaces in Sendai City, where displaced families are staying. Child-friendly spaces provide a protective environment where children can spend time with other children and trained teachers, freeing up parents to work on the recovery. They also provide materials, trained counselors and psychosocial support to help children overcome the shock and stress of the disaster. More child-friendly spaces will be set up in the coming days.
